Manage Users
User management in Chariot involves adding users to organizations and projects and then assigning roles to control access.
Add a User to an Organization
To add a user to an organization, you must have the role Owner or Maintainer for the organization.
Navigate to the upper right-hand corner of Chariot. Open the Profile icon and select Admin Panel. Here, you will see all organizations for which you are an Owner or Maintainer. If you are not an Owner or Maintainer of any organizations, you will not have access to the Admin Panel.
In the Admin Panel, search for users who are part of the organization and add new users by clicking the +Add Users button. Enter the user's email and assign a role (Owner, Maintainer, or Contributor).
After adding users to the organization, add them to specific projects as needed.
Add a User to a Project
To add a user to a project, you must be an Owner of the project. Additionally, the Owner of the organization that the project is in will have permissions to add users to all projects within the organization.
Go to the project, open the Users and Access tab, add the user by email, and assign a role (Owner, Writer, or Reader).
Updating Permissions & Access
To update a user's permissions or access, either update their role or remove their membership from an organization or project. To change a user's organization role, you must be an Owner or Maintainer of the organization. To change a user's project role, you must be a project Owner or an Owner of the organization the project is in.
How to update permissions and access:
- Go to the organization or project.
- Open the Users and Access tab.
- Find the user in the list and remove the user or update the role.
- Confirm the change.
You can also change the project's visibility from the Users and Access tab, using the "Project Visibility" dropdown option.
An organization Maintainer cannot assign the role of Owner and cannot change the role of or remove existing Owners.
